Last Week of Summer 2025
This morning, I got the girls and myself up bright and early to head down to Poco Poco Ranch in Puerto Nuevo, Baja Mexico. It’s about a 25 min drive from our home in the Colonia Santa Fe within the city of Tijuana, Mexico. It's our second week coming out here working with the horses. The original diva, Layla and Hope, the new addition to the ranch.
Earlier in the month, we had a family sleep over with some friends and got on the horses after not riding for almost two years, my daughter Kimberly and I fell back in love with riding. The joy I get from seeing her thrive riding on the horses heals me and brings an overwhelming feeling of gratitude.
Jan and Carole run the ranch, they’ve become family. They have made this place a safe space for all their friends to come and enjoy themselves. I am honored every time I come out here with my daughters because we can just chill and exist, ride and spend some quality time together.
It’s tough having to work a full time job, commute the international border and have a work schedule that is all over the place. I fell like i’ve found a way to decompress and also teach my kids the fundamentals of work ethic with chores around the ranch, responsibility and respect.
I’m not sure if I have mentioned this before but my children are both homeschooled, this year will be the second year for my youngest daughter, Alina and Kimberly, my oldest, is in her 3rd year and going into her first year of high school. This is such great enrichment for them. I’ve seen the confidence within Kimberly really blossom.
I love watching Alina help out Jan with the goat and the lamb. It’s the funniest thing ever. I keep a watchful eye on her though because she’s accident prone and she’s going to make me get gray hairs sooner rather than later.
To utilize my time here and to focus on my writing goals, I decided to incorporate bring my laptop to write. Bringing my paint supplies to start working on some artwork as well. Hell who knows, maybe i’ll start my vlogs that I say i’m always going to do.
overall I am just excited about this new chapter in life. The friendships that have gotten stronger and the new people that we are meeting. Until next time.
