He’s Changed.

Life is running smoothly and the wheels are turning,
Brick by brick the house is standing tall again,
Turf is laid over the patches on the front lawn

Please come inside and let me walk you through my home,
The kitchen looks shiny with all new appliances,
The walls look freshly painted,
The rooms all nice and tidy,

I’ve been here before many times,
The smell of fresh paint and new beginnings,
They never last long,
The holes in the walls always come back,

The shattered dishes and broken doors,
Broken lamps, torn up shirts,
Shattered phones and trashed make-up,
They always come back,

I’ve walked in this house before many times,
I’ve walked in this house when it’s been broken and remodeled,
I’ve seen it with new tenants and old tenants,

I will not walk in through that door,
”I love what you’ve done with the place, but I have to get going.”
As I walk away, he is left standing there,
With each step, the new fresh coat of paint begins to chip,
